Author Guidelines
1. General Provisions
1.1. The selection and placement of printed materials, determination of the issue’s subject matter, layout, and publication of the issue shall be carried out by the Editorial Board of the journal “Education and Science” (hereinafter referred to as the Editorial Board), published by Limited Liability Company “Publishing House ‘Akademik’” (TIN 9731160729).
2. Publication Terms
2.1. Submission by the author of materials for publication in the journal “Education and Science” shall be recognized as an offer (proposal to conclude an agreement on the assignment of exclusive rights to the work). At the same time, the author shall notify the Editorial Board in writing that the submitted article has not been previously published.
By submitting material for publication in the journal “Education and Science,” the author agrees that the article will be published in the electronic version of the journal (https://edu-science.online) in Russian and English and may be included in electronic databases (“Garant,” “Consultant Plus,” etc.), as well as in collections or otherwise used by the Editorial Board.
2.2. The main content of the journal “Education and Science” includes scientific and scientific-practical articles, scientific reviews on issues of education, training, upbringing, legal and educational aspects of the implementation of human and civil rights and freedoms in the modern world, and other areas of legal and humanitarian research corresponding to the specialization of the journal and meeting the requirements established by the Editorial Board.
2.3. Only original materials that have not previously been published in mass media or in any other form shall be considered for publication in the journal “Education and Science” (hereinafter referred to as the Journal). Articles submitted to the Journal shall undergo verification in the “Antiplagiat” system. The originality of the article (including citations and self-citations) must be at least 70%. Bibliographic references by authors to articles of relevant subject matter previously published in the Journal are welcomed.
2.4. An article must not be simultaneously submitted for consideration and publication in another journal.
2.5. The article shall be submitted to the Editorial Board via the form on the journal’s website. The file name must be typed in Latin characters and reflect the author’s surname (for example: Petrov.doc).
2.6. Articles corresponding to the subject matter of the journal shall be selected for publication. The Journal does not publish articles whose content affects the honor and dignity of third parties or includes information and recommendations of a questionable nature.
2.7. The Journal conducts peer review of all materials submitted to the Editorial Board that correspond to the subject matter of the journal. Preliminary assessment of all submitted materials for compliance with the above requirements shall be carried out by the Editorial Board.
Reviewers of the Journal are scholars and recognized practitioners in the field of human rights who have publications in these areas. A member of the Journal’s Editorial Board may act as a reviewer.
The review shall assess relevance, scientific novelty, significance of the obtained results for practice, and validity of the conclusions made; it shall reflect information on the presence (or absence) of references to sources; provide comments (if any) on the content and formatting of the article; and conclude on the advisability of publication / revision / rejection. Based on the results of the review, the authors shall receive notification regarding acceptance for publication / revision / rejection.
2.8. An article shall be prepared for publication in the journal upon receipt of a positive review of the author’s material (in the form of a scored questionnaire) and payment of the publication fee.
2.9. All changes concerning the content of the article shall be agreed upon with the author within the timeframes established by the Editorial Board.
The Editorial Board reserves the right, independently and without agreement with the author, to perform literary editing and proofreading of materials in accordance with the requirements of the modern Russian language and the style of the journal.
2.10. Articles submitted to the Editorial Board shall be published in the journal within the timeframes determined by the journal. Upon agreement with the author, an article may be published under a pseudonym.
2.11. Articles shall be published on a commercial basis (without payment of author remuneration). Articles authored (co-authored) by students may be considered and published in the journal upon consent of the academic supervisor or a representative of the department.
Articles that do not comply with the established submission and formatting requirements shall not be considered by the Editorial Board. Authors shall be informed of this decision by email.
2.14. Upon receiving confirmation of publication of the article in the Journal, the author must provide the Editorial Board with the following information:
• surname, first name, patronymic;
• place of study/work (position), academic degree, academic title (if any);
• postgraduate students must обязательно provide information about their academic supervisor;
• email address and contact phone number.
3. Content and Structure of the Article
3.1. The topic of the article must be relevant and contain the authors’ own conclusions. Publication of an article without indicating sources, including references to the author’s own previously published works, is not permitted.
3.2. The electronic version of the article shall be formatted in accordance with the rules specified in Clause 4 of this document.
3.3. The following information shall precede the text of the article:
– UDC (Universal Decimal Classification index may be obtained from a library and information center or found independently using the electronic resource http://teacode.com/online/udc/, for example, UDC 339.543);
– in Russian: article title (sentence case); initials and surname(s) of the author(s) (for example, I. I. Petrov); information about the organization(s), city, and country where the author(s) work;
– abstract of 80–120 words (for example, Abstract. Further text...); keywords: up to 10 words, separated by commas (for example, Keywords: ..., ...);
– in English: article title (sentence case); initials and surname(s) of the author(s) (for example, I.I. Petrov); information about the organization(s), city, and country where the author(s) work (for example, Association of Customs Lawyers, Moscow, Russian Federation);
– abstract of 80–120 words (for example, Abstract. Further text...); keywords: up to 10 words, separated by commas (for example, Keywords: ..., ...).
The abstract must contain brief information about the main topic of the publication, the issues addressed, the object and subject of the research, the purpose of the work, its main scientific results, and practical significance.
3.4. Structure of the article:
a) introduction (relevance of the topic, etc.);
b) 2–4 text blocks separated by thematic headings;
c) conclusion (conclusions and obtained results are presented).
Authors are recommended to follow the IRAC rule (Issue/Rule/Analysis/Conclusion) [2] and, when preparing a scientific article, provide a brief overview of existing positions on the topic of the article (the author independently decides which positions deserve attention), formulate a thesis or problem with analysis of arguments, and substantiate their own position.
3.5. The following information shall be provided after the text of the article.
The list of references (up to 25 items) shall be presented in the order in which they are mentioned in the text (footnotes are not allowed). Reference numbers to used sources shall be indicated in square brackets [ ].
Bibliographic references shall be formatted in accordance with GOST R 7.0.5.2008 “Bibliographic Reference. General Requirements and Rules of Compilation.”
Information about the author(s) in Russian and English (Information about the author(s)): full surname, first name, patronymic (in English-language data, patronymic shall be indicated by initials); academic degree, academic title, position held; for postgraduate students – the name of the department (structural subdivision) where studies are conducted; organization and address of the organization; personal email address and contact phone number.
3.6. Statement by the author(s) on the absence of conflict of interest in Russian and English. If there is a conflict of interest, it must be specified in detail. If there is no conflict of interest, the following statement shall be included at the end of the article (before the “References” section): The author(s) declare(s) the absence of conflict of interest.
4. Article Formatting
4.1. Microsoft Word text editor shall be used for manuscript preparation. The article shall be typed in 14-point Times New Roman font. The recommended article length is 12,000 characters, maximum – 16,000 characters including spaces. Longer articles may be accepted for publication as an exception at the discretion of the Editorial Board upon agreement with the author. The following formatting parameters shall be established: margins – top, left, right – 2.0 cm; bottom – 2.5 cm; binding – 0; distance from edge to header/footer: top – 1.0 cm; bottom – 1.5 cm; paragraph – first line indent – 1.25 cm; line spacing – 1.5.
4.2. Pages of the article must be numbered at the bottom center.
4.3. All abbreviations and acronyms, except for obviously well-known ones, must be deciphered by the author upon first use in the text. The source of quotations, numerical, and factual data cited in the manuscript must be accurately indicated.
4.4. All bibliographic elements of foreign sources should be indicated in the original language, avoiding abbreviations and, where possible, following the same requirements as for Russian-language bibliography formatting.
4.5. If reference is made to a source already mentioned, generally accepted abbreviations used in bibliographic records shall be applied.
4.6. When using electronic Internet resources, the title of the resource’s title page should be indicated, followed by the electronic address designation (abbreviation URL), a colon, the full address of the resource location, and (in parentheses) the date of the last visit to the webpage.
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submitted materials must comply with the following requirements:
- The material complies with the requirements set forth in the Author Guidelines.
- The material has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
- All references have been checked by the author for accuracy and completeness, for which the author bears responsibility.
- All tables and figures are numbered and captioned.
Conflict of interest
Conflict of interest means potential interests, activities, or relationships with another entity that may influence or bias the decisions of the author, reviewer, or editor.
When submitting an article to the Editorial Board, the author(s) must declare any potential conflict of interest or state its absence.
Copyright Notice
The author grants the Editorial Board, under the terms of a non-exclusive license, the right to use the article within the limits established by the agreement, including publication in electronic form in Russian and English.
